We look forward to helping you enjoy your golf to the fullest for 2016.
Missing Captain's Badge Relocated
The recent discovery of a silver badge has been something of a mystery. It was handed to Lady Captain Edwina Thomas by a neighbour of hers. He is a volunteer at the local British Heart Foundation shop and came across the badge by accident amongst the jewellery items in the shop. Initial enquiries among the ladies drew a blank and Club secretary Gareth Evans had not seen it before.
The badge is finely detailed and shows a view of the course towards the church across the ferry path as it once was.
At the Christmas Carol evening Edwina showed a photograph of the badge to Past Captains and Presidents Charlie Evans and Henry Kagan, both of whom immediately recognised it as the Club Captains Badge which was handed to successive Captains each year. Henry mentioned that it was designed by Reg Bloor but it seems to have been lost some 16 years ago.

A Happy New Year to you all, here's hoping you enjoy your best ever year on and off the golf course. We don't wish to start the year on a negative, but let's face it, the weather isn't looking too great is it?!
With this in mind, we know many of you have taken to the range to work on your game. If you are doing so, rather than taking a bucket of balls and swinging away aimlessly, give yourself a goal. It takes no time at all to crack your way through 30 or 60 balls, but what are you hoping to achieve by the end of it? Too many amateur golfers make this common mistake.
We have some ways of helping you to improve your range time. Come and speak to the team because we can identify areas of your game where you can improve and offer drills to help you get there. Not only will goals help you focus more on what you're trying to achieve, but it will make hitting balls a touch more rewarding as well.
