Open Day - Sunday, 8 May 

Our Annual Open Day was held last Sunday here at West Cornwall. Blustery but generally dry weather, until later in the afternoon, encouraged many of those attending to take part in impromptu lessons provided by Matthew Tucknott and I. We provided newcomers to the game with some basic swing fundamentals, whilst existing golfers benefited from tips and drills on how to improve. Several non-golfers were amazed, that following initial instruction, they were able to successfully play shots from our practice bunker, and Matt took video footage of these new found skills, no doubt as proud additions to the family album. 

  

Office staff and board members were in attendance to welcome visitors and were on hand to discuss membership opportunities. Many visitors took to the course to play some recreational golf and were shown around by committee members.

A successful day resulted in a number of visitors applying for full membership, and many more taking up the special offer of 3 month temporary membership with the prospect of converting to full membership at the end of the trial period.

The last of the visitors were still with us at 5.30pm after a very busy day. It was generally felt that all those who had attended had enjoyed the day, with the opportunity to enjoy the course and facilities that the Club can offer. Thanks to all those who helped make the day so successful and thanks to Andy and Cara for ensuring those visitors were so well catered for throughout the day.


 

On a dry breezy Friday the ladies of West Cornwall played a league match against Bude ladies and won 5-2. 

Well played by all the team.

Complete Equipment Solution 

Throughout May and June, we will be running our Complete Equipment Solution. This gives you the opportunity to have a FREE fitting and a FREE after sales lesson with one of our PGA Professionals here at West Cornwall. 

The purpose of running this offer is two-fold:

Firstly we want you, our customers, to experience the benefits of a custom fitting, and how much it can improve your game. For example even in the last few weeks we have had customers gaining over 20 yards in distance, and reducing the dispersion of each shot, just through using the right club, shaft combination as a result of a custom fitting.

Secondly, we want to give back to you to thank you for your continued custom. The after sales lesson will hopefully help you settle into your new clubs, so you can hit the ground running from your first round.
