Jim Barnes Cups 2016
With fog threatening to cancel the competition, the players eventually managed to play with a shotgun start commencing at 10.30a.m. The premier West Cornwall Golf Club open is named after the inaugural winner of the US PGA who started his career at West Cornwall and presented the Cups to be played for, 'Long' Jim Barnes.
The 36-hole better ball event continued to be under threat during the morning round with fog rolling in and out, but the players did manage to complete it. The conditions did not stop Club members, Luke Stevens and Jason Hackett scoring 51 points having carded 9 birdies and an eagle. Two pairs managed 45 points to share second spot. Jordan Musitano played with Noah Badcock and the Club Captain, Paul Horsell with Andrew Hitchens. In 4th place with 44 after the first round, recently returned from the USA where he is studying on a golf scholarship, were Harry Hall and his father Phil.
The second round was again a shotgun start at 3.45p.m. By now the fog had lifted and conditions were very much better. Keith Nash & Rod Handyside managed 45 points to add to their morning 40 points and lead on 85. Stevens & Hackett only managed 39 in the afternoon to total 90, which looked to be good enough, until Musitano & Badcock handed in an afternoon 45 points, equalling their morning score, totalling 90 and winning on a better afternoon score.

Message from Lady Captain Debbie Sedgeman
Introducing the ladies new colour
As you know we are unable to purchase any further supplies of our existing colours. Therefore, we needed to make a change and to update and accommodate our new lady members joining us, playing and supporting in our teams.
Over the last few months Jason & I have been looking at various options. We have been throwing around all sorts of ideas and colours, but at the end of the day to accommodate "all" we had to whittle it down to 3 colours.
We know it is impossible to please everyone, but thank you all for your very valuable feedback.
In conclusion the committee have gone with the majority and approved the "Blue" with a very smart West Cornwall logo in "silver".
We can now act quite quickly on this by placing your individual orders direct with Jason in the Pro Shop from today.
The Ladies section will subsidise
£5 when you order both the shirt and the jumper together.
This is open to ladies who play regular on a Tuesday and pay to enter our competitions.
Many thanks for your patience over the last few months, and we hope you will be very happy with our chosen new colour.
Happy and good golfing from your Lady Captain -
