Paul Horsell's Captain's Day
Saturday saw West Cornwall Captain, Paul Horsell hold his Captain's Day. The field of 152 players was reduced to 137 entrants with the weather on the day wet and windy, some of the worst conditions of the year so far. Indeed of those that entered a number did not return a score.
The day was an individual stableford and although the early starters got the best of the weather, the conditions were still not great. This made the score of junior Jo Haddy all the more remarkable, coming in with 48 points. Second in the junior section, 7 points behind on a creditable 41 was Katie Jenkin.
Jo Body won the ladies competition with 32 whilst in the Veteran's competition
David Winks managed 34 points to beat
Larry Whittaker on count back with
Mike Jose, Jeff Green and
Larry Magor finishing third, fourth and fifth in that order, all having scored 32 points.
The main competition was close with some good scores considering the conditions.
John Barnes and
Keith Nash managed 36 points each whilst
Jon Musitano and
Richard Bunch both scored 38. However it was
Nick Morris with a solid 40 points who took the honours.
