Royal Cornwall Show

Following on from the National Golf Month in May, and the huge campaign to "Get Into Golf" run throughout the UK by most of the golf industry. Matt Tucknott PGA Professional from West Cornwall Golf Club teamed up with the Cornwall Golf Partnership and attended the Royal Cornwall Show over 3 days last week. During the show the team delivered 100's of FREE golf lessons to the thousands of people attending the biggest show of the year.

There were two practice nets where people could try golf for the first time and for the golfers that already play some practical advice on what best to do in order to improve their skills. There was also the opportunity to test your skills on an indoor golf simulator where there were daily nearest the pin competitions being held to see who was the best? The golf stand was part of the Ocean BMW car stand which definitely helped draw in the crowds of people.

Hopefully West Cornwall Golf Club will see more people coming and playing as a result of the promotion, and if we get a few new members as a result even better. Matt Tucknott commented "gone are the days when golf clubs can solely rely on people just turning up at the clubs to play and join as members, any golf club that wants growth in numbers must see these events as great opportunities to showcase their facilities and services"

Our County's winning team

Congratulations to the Cornwall County men's TEAM who won the South West Championship stroke-play event by 5 shots.

West Cornwall Golf Club's Harry Hall and Matt Richards played their parts extremely well in a historical win which now allows the team to represent the South West of England in the National Finals later in the year.

If you or anyone you know wants to learn golf but thinks it will take too long to do, why not try our learn to play golf in a day introduction session. Matt Tucknott PGA Professional will guide you through the basic fundamentals of the game in a fun yet informative way to ensure you get the best start possible.

The group will either be run at West Cornwall Golf Club, or if the weather looks indifferent, up at Hayle Golf. All equipment will be supplied if needed, and the only extras you might need is a little snack and drink to be had during the break whilst we chat about getting onto the Golf course. There are only a few spaces left for June's "Learn Golf In A Day" session, so please contact Matt ASAP to book into the group.
