Captain's Charity Day - Saturday, 10 June 2017
Unfortunately the weather was very poor with a number of entrants deciding not to play but still paying their entry fee as a donation to the Captain's Charity, which this year are St Julia's Hospice and MacMillan Nurses.
Early starter, Stephen Philips scored 39 points and as the weather continued to deteriorate, no-one could compete with that score which won the event. Second place went to Fred Horsell with 36 points, whilst there were 4 players tied on 34 points, being Alex Glasson, Allan Hampshire, Craig Darlow and Steve Taylor finishing in that order on countback.
Longest drive was won by Andre Otto and Nearest the Pin was picked up by Felicity Chiddicks, while there were only 6 2's on the day from Stephen Phillips, Brian Humphrys, Mark Perry, Alison Gessey, Mandy Dennison and Mags Hosking.
The day itself raised over £1,000 and with other fund raising events over the year, captain, Richard Glasson hopes to raise a lot more for his chosen charities. The evening was finished off with the entertainment from comedian, Kernow King, who proved very popular with everyone who attended.

Captain's Charity Day - Message to all members
Thank you to all members for your support on captain's charity day. Despite the weather being miserable and a number of players deciding not to go out, they did still pay their entry fees, which all go into the charity pot.
A good number also attended the club for cream teas in the afternoon. Thank you to Andy for providing these and the ladies for serving them and running the raffles. The evening with Kernow King was successful and enjoyed by all.
The day itself has raised £1,329.50 so far for St Julia's hospice and MacMillan nurses and there will continue to be other fundraising events during my year as captain.
Thank you once again for all of your support for very worthwhile causes.
Richard Glasson
Captain
