On 1st August the ladies had sunny weather for Gill Cattran's Captain's Day. The golf was followed by a lovely evening meal.

Captains Prize: With an excellent 42 points was Margaret O'Doherty.
Division 1: 1st Debbie Sedgeman 41 points, 2nd Margaret Eddy 40 points and 3rd Jo Body 39 points.
Division 2: 1st Felicity Chiddocks 40 points and 2nd Edwina Thomas 38 points.
Division 3: 1st Jackie Hill with 33 points and 2nd Fran Davey 31 points.
Past Captains Prize: Gill Prodger with 32 points.
Junior Prize: Casey Olds with 38 points.
The 9 Hole Competition: Helen Jones with 15 points c/b.
Best Overall Front 9: Veronica Paul with 22 points and Best Overall Back 9 : Pat Averns with 18 points.
Mystery Prizes: Lis Jenkin and Jo Hodding.

Junior Captain, Casey Olds

Casey's Junior Captain's Day. Great weather and nice BBQ (thanks to David Inch and Peggy Darlow).

Jason Broadway lead his team of Jo Haddy, Jamie Bushby and Tristan Woolcock to victory. James Scott helped Katie, Jonty and Alfie Channon into second with Lynne Bishop, Kira, Sam and Charlotte coming third.

Well done all and have a good holiday Casey Olds.

We've now taken delivery of PING's latest range, PING G400 drivers, fairways, hybrids, and irons.

The G400 driver has a bigger crown to reduce drag, boosting your clubhead speed and is also lighter to aid overall forgiveness. PING has also made the iron face 40% thinner, springing your ball to increase distance.

Choose the right ball

Not only is playing with the same model of golf ball each round important for your consistency, but you need to make sure that you’re taking to the course with a ball that suits your game and feel preferences. Comparing different balls is a great way to narrow down what you are after.

Scoring system

During a chat about your goals, price range and personal preferences we can make a few ball recommendations for you to go and try. Why not use the above scoring system when out on the course to determine which ball is best for your game?

SHORT GAME FIRST

Side-by-side testing should make it easier to notice any preferences you have, but if you don’t have a clear winner we’d always recommend prioritising the ball you prefer around the greens, as this is where you take the majority of your shots and what influences your final score the most.
