Winter League - Saturday, 14 October 2017

Round 2

It was a much nicer day in round 2 of the 2017/2018 Winter League season. The wind was up and we saw some great scores from Mark Thomas and Dan Stephens scoring a total of 47 points.

2nd Ben Easterling & Andrew Scully – 47 points
3rd Tony Watling & Anthony Ley – 46 points
4th Steve Mitchell & Nick Allen – 46 points
5th David Bowden & Daniel Wills – 43 points
6th Mark Hutchings & David Stevens – 43 points
7th Andrew Kevern & Stuart Cameron – 43 points
8th Andrew Hitchens & Andre Otto – 43 points
9th Brian Hosken & Randal Friggens – 43 points
10th David Elliott & Charl Van Niekerk – 42 points

The booby prize was collected by Phil Cooke & Don Ruhrmund.

Nearest to Pin on the 15th was won by Anthony Ley.

There were six 2’s each collecting six Pro V1’s

The next Winter League is scheduled for Saturday, 28 October so put your name down in the Gentleman’s Locker Room.

The Hugh Harvey Memorial – Sunday, 15 September 2017

Sunday saw the playing of the Hugh Harvey Memorial Cup - a 3 person team event consisting of a gentleman, lady and junior. With 11 teams competing and despite the increasing wind, some good scores were returned.

Winning with 48 points were the team of Dan Richards, Jane Atwood and Ian Coutts who are pictured here receiving the cup from club captain - Richard Glasson. (Dan you’ll notice, even raised a slight smile!)

Congratulations also to Hannah Body’s team who finished 2nd and to Charlotte Luke’s team who finished in 3rd.

Ladies Section

Here are the latest results for the Ladies section of West Cornwall Golf Club.

On Tuesday, 3 October the ladies played their monthly Stableford competition and also for the Stableford Winners’ Cup.

Winner of the Stableford Winners’ Cup was Jo Body with 36 points, 2nd was Debbie Sedgeman with 33 points and 3rd was Donna Gibson with 31 points.

In the Stableford Competition:
Div 1: 1st Shana Edmunds - 34 points, 2nd Margaret Morris -33 points and 3rd Sue Olds - 32 points.
Div 2: 1st Jane Attwood - 32 points, 2nd Marina Haegeli - 30 points and 3rd Marje Parnell - 29 points.

On Tuesday, 10 October 30 ladies played for the Miss Roskrows Prize. This is played with 3 clubs and a putter.

Div 1: 1st Rachel Perkin - 35 points, 2nd Jo Body - 30 points and 3rd Lynne Bishop - 29 points.
Div 2: 1st Marje Parnell - 31 points, 2nd Marina Haegeli - 29 points and 3rd Jacky Pontefract - 27 points.

Pro Tip of the Week by Nicolas Brewaeys

Hi Everyone!

Here is a little drill for you to make sure you finish you golf swing in a more dynamic and athletic position.

Try to hold your finish position till the ball lands on the ground and during that time you can make sure that your weight is fully engaged on your front foot, body nice and straight and chest pointing towards the target.
