Hello golfers,

In this week’s email, we bring you news from my visit to the PGA Merchandise Show, we take a look at some of our new coaching deals, and we look ahead to what's coming in February. Enjoy the read.

The first day is a Demo day not at the conference centre but at nearby Orange County golf centre, a huge circle shaped driving range with all shots hit towards the centre. Absolutely huge, never seen so many people hitting balls at once. Some great exhibitions and all the top brands showcasing their new clubs on a grand scale. Extremely dynamic productions with DJs playing funky music and star players making appearances on the stands. It’s was a really refreshing and exciting atmosphere. There were so many exciting products including the golf surf boards which were amazing fun, and I’m sure they will become more common place in the UK in the future.

At the actual show there was so many exhibitors with many weird and wonderful products. My particular interest in the technology side of club fitting brought loads of ideas for progression of our fitting studio in the shop. Although I must say, I still have the best technology available for club fitting via TrackMan and the very latest course simulator available but this is due for a major upgrade this year and hopefully the companies will act on some of the feedback I gave them for improvements. My highlight was definitely meeting Scotty Cameron, simply a legend with his knowledge of putting and putter designs.

There are too many numerous new innovations and ideas to go through them all here but technology is definitely the forefront, from course management to club fitting and swing analysis to the massive improvements in club design. The manufacturers seem to still be able to progress their club design every year. Notable new clubs are the new PING G400 Max, TaylorMade’s Twist Face and Callaway’s new Rogue which is similar to the Epic but much friendlier.

Need a Lesson before the Season kicks in?

I have introduced some deals for February & March with lessons starting from £15!

I also have two playing lessons options:

- 9 hole playing lesson £55 (any time)
- 3 hole playing lesson £25 (morning only no later than 9.30am)

A playing lesson will give us the opportunity to look at all aspects of the game from your technique (tee to green), course management, rules and etiquette and also determine what we would need work on next. It's a little bit like an MOT.

Annual Ladies Lunch

On 19th January the ladies section held their annual ladies lunch. After a lovely meal the trophies and cups which had been won throughout the year were presented to the winners. Unfortunately some trophy winners were unable to attend so are not in the photo.

Yellow Peril

On 23rd January the ladies played the Yellow Peril competition over 15 holes. The winners were Gill Embley, Yolanda Drinkwater and Margaret O'Doherty with 62 points. 2nd were Anne Uren, Chris Matthews and Lis Jenkin with 56 points and 3rd were Debbie Sedgeman, Donna Gibson and Margaret Morris with 55 points.

New Arrivals

In the last few days we have received our demo kits from TaylorMade and Callaway ready for custom fit and pre-orders.

With TaylorMade we have received the NEW M3, M4, P-790, CGB & Ladies Kalea irons with a great selection of shafts. The irons are available in both right-handed and left-handed. Our M3 & M4 woods should land in-store this week and the reviews are fantastic!

Callaway have introduced the NEW Rogue line with some fantastic products!

We have 3 different iron heads with the Rogue Pro, Rogue and Rogue X in right-handed and left-handed along with the 3 drivers heads; Sub-zero, standard, and draw bias (only right handed in demo at present).
