2019 Club Championship Captain Richard Bunch lead the way in the Club Championships, teeing off at 8:00 am for his morning round. For the first time, the Ladies Club Championship was played on the same day as the men with Judy Ryder hitting the first ladies tee shot of the day. In the morning, Graeme Webster set the target at 64 with Ian Hanley managing 70 to lie second for a long time. However, the later starters performed better with Seamus Stevens equaling the 64, shooting a 68 gross to lead the scratch competition. Matthew Strick scored 66 to lie third and Mike Wigley had a nett 67 to put him fourth and second in the scratch event. Ollie Naylor completed those who shot below handicap with a 68 to finish the morning in fifth place. Meanwhile, in the ladies competition, Judy Ryder was the early leader with 77, but this was surpassed by Hilary Wood on 74. In third place was Rachel Perkin on 82, whilst Chris Matthews and Charlotte Luke both scored 83. In the men’s support competition, Kevin Veal was the early leader with 66 and looked well in control at that stage. However, Ian Hodge had different ideas and put together an excellent 65 to win. Paul Perry was third with 67, whilst David Bishop came in 4th on 69. The ladies support competition was played as a stableford and it was Marina Haegeli that took top spot with 32 points followed by Edwina Thomas on 29 and third place went to Kim Pellow, a point further back on 28. For the Ladies Championship, Hilary Wood followed up her 74 with 82, and junior Charlotte Luke shot 81 in the afternoon to clinch second spot with a total of 164. Judy Ryder took the scratch prize with a 165 total with Gloria Sandow second on 180. Graeme Webster continued his form in the afternoon following up his 64 with a 66 for a 130 total. Unfortunately the only real contender Seamus Stevens could not follow up his morning round and finished with a 72 to slip away. However, Ollie Naylor did improve, scoring 66 himself in the afternoon t go with his morning 68 and clinch second spot with 134. Stevens also couldn’t hang on to the scratch prize, totalling 144 as Jordon Musitano followed up his morning 73 with a 70 to total 143 and win by one shot.
