Harry Hall We would like to congratulate and wish good luck to our very own Harry Hall for being selected to play in this year's Walker Cup at Hoylake (Liverpool) on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September 2019. The University of Las Vegas student finished runner-up in this season’s Brabazon Trophy and represented England in the European Amateur Team Championship. In 2018, he won the William H Tucker and the Little Rock First Tee Classic in US college golf and was selected to play in the Arnold Palmer Cup match against the United States of America.

Lady Captain’s Day Stableford This is always a special day in our calendar, the competition was postponed from 2 weeks ago, due to very adverse weather conditions and once again the day dawned with some heavy rain. But after most competitors initially got rather wet, eventually we all dried out and had only a gentle breeze to contend with. Only full lady members were eligible for the first prize in each division. The photograph shows Mary Jones receiving the Captain’s Prize from Lady Captain Mandy Dennison.

Seniors Anniversary Pairs
Thirty teams had entered the Anniversary pairs, played in dry conditions, although gusting westerly winds failed to prevent some very good scoring. The winning pair John Weaver & Ryszard Zolkiewicz (better known as RTZ and a previous winner) scored 22 points between them on the first nine and an even better 24 points on the homeward nine giving them a winning total of 46pts.
|
This was just good enough to beat off unlucky runners-up Steve Blyth & Edward Rowe with a better back nine that included 6 pars. The consolation for the runners up being two’s on the 5th and the 17th winning 48 new balls between them. Steve Wicks also secured a two on the 1st to win 24 balls and nearest the pin on the 15th to add to his wine collection.
Captain Bill Bunn presented the silver trophy to the winners and thanked everyone for a great day. The next senior's event is the 4th round of Golfer of the year on the 29th August. |
