The Booby prize with 33 points went to Pete Verran and Dennis Fryer.

Nearest to the pin on 15th went to Mark Perry, winning two sleeves Pro V1x golf balls.

16 two's were recorded on the day, each collecting a sleeve of Titleist Pro V1's.

Next Winter League event is on Saturday 1st February, so if you wish to play, please put your name down on the sheet in the men's locker rooms.

Seniors' news

Seniors' update...

The seniors completed last year in style with their Annual Festive Dinner at the Club, attended by 83 people, where Golfer of the Year Phil Phaby was presented with the winners shield to commemorate his rich seam of form in 2019.

Other notable results at the back end of the year saw Captain Bill Bunn receive the winning vouchers for the Autumn Stapleford with 43pts hence making a change from presenting them to other winners all season.

The Christmas Cracker foursomes competition was won by Tony Dickinson and Heath Hollinsworth with a commendable 46pts.

Coming into 2020 the New Year Greensomes saw Tony Dickinson in form again partnered with Bob Smith this time and winning on countback from Steve Blyth & Edward Rowe with 40pts.

Layer up

Last week we talked about one of our favourite topics: rain! Whilst waterproof protection is key for staying dry when caught in a downpour, combining layers of clothing underneath is vital if you want to enjoy the warmth without being so restricted that you can’t complete your backswing.

What do we mean by layering?

Lots of golfers are still in the habit of putting on as many layers as they possibly can in the winter to combat the cold – a vest, turtleneck, polo, sweater and jacket – but today’s golf clothing could easily cut that down by half.

What do we suggest?

From polos that keep you at a cool temperature in the summer to thermal mid-layers like the one pictured above by FootJoy, having the right piece of clothing can do the job of several poor layers. Pop by the shop to have a look at our clothing collections.
