Seniors Shield and Rosebowl...

A well-attended Seniors AGM saw outgoing Captain Bill Bunn make his final two presentation of prizes in what he said was an enjoyable year for him as Captain whilst thanking other officers for their support.

The Seniors Shield played as a Medal event saw Ian Coutts coming in with a nett 63 off 11 h’cap to edge out Randal Friggens who returned a nett 65 off 20 h’cap. The top seven players all returned net scores of 68 and under. Four players won 15 balls each for 2’s at the par 3’s.

Played on the day of the AGM, in very strong winds and early rain, was the Rosebowl Bonus Ball competition where, 3 man teams, took turns with the yellow ball to earn bonus points. Two teams returned scores of 100 plus which with the competition shortened to 15 holes were very commendable scores.

In 1st place with 104 points were the team of Andrew Hurrell, David Shilson (who was part of last years winning team) and Jon Baxter. They edged out the unlucky runners up by 1 point – Fred Grist, Brian Joy and Heath Hollingsworth finishing with 103 points. Jon Baxter of the winning team said “ we all contributed well to the points tally and all scored exceptionally well with the yellow ball”.

Another winner on the day was Terry England who shot the only 2 of the day to enable him to share 58 golf balls with his team.

Captain Bill Bunn signed off thanking everyone who played through his year and handed over to new Seniors Captain David Felce.
