Winter League round 6
The 6th round of the Winter League took place on Saturday in decent conditions which the scoring reflected.
Winners with 44 points were Kevin Veal and Peter Verran, pushing Jon Coleman and Ted Rockey with 43 points into second spot as Coleman recorded 2 two's in his round. The next 3 teams all recorded 42 points being John Musitano with Richard Glasson, Steve Mitchell, who recorded a hole in one on Wednesday, with Howard Green and Ben Easterling partnering Vice-Captain, Ian Hanley.
The Booby prize was 'won' by Phil Phaby and Del Pomphrey with 29 points, no doubt costing Phil a considerable amount in side bets!
In the overall, there is still no catching Rod Jenkin who now has 75 points. However Mark Hughes has 58 with only 5 counting scores so could close the gap considerably with a good score in the next round. Tom Ruhrmund also has 58 points and Andrew Kevern lies second with 59.
Meanwhile in the high category, Richard Glasson leads the way with 71 closely followed by Lee McGarraghy on 68. Dave Phillips also requires a 6th score so currently on 57 he could also be in the mix. Tim Martin has 62 and Eammon McWilliams 61 so there remains all to play for.

Cornwall County Coaching Update from Matt Tucknott
Some of you are already aware that when I'm not working at West Cornwall Golf Club I spend a huge amount of time working as the Director of Junior Coaching for Cornwall Golf and Lead Coach for three of the six squads we currently have within the County program. This role involves facilitating all the coaching that the county puts on throughout Cornwall during the year, making sure we employ the right professionals who can deliver first class tuition to the future stars of County golf and delivers a clear talent pathway of development right through professional level.
One of the many things I do to fullfill my role is attend a number of meetings whether it be nationally or closer to home at a County level which normally involves the development and encouragement of junior golf. One such meeting took place last week at Newquay Golf Club where the county hosted its AGM. We are lucky enough down here at West Cornwall Golf Club to have such a great junior section and it didn't come as a surprise that we had such a good representation at that meeting, which was noted by all that attended. If anyone would like to get involved with the promotion of junior golf whether it be at our own club or within the County please do contact me to discuss the possibilities.
