How are our New Year's Resolutions going?
We are now almost at the end of January and I was wondering how everyone's resolutions are going and if anyone still has theirs intact? My personal goals like so many other golfers are centred around self improvement and improving my golf skills, ready for the year ahead. Even as the wind and rain hits the windows, I'm busy planning my diary with all sorts of different things both on and off the golf course, from finalising dates for my County Coaching Squads to booking myself onto various training courses to enable me to give an even better, more comprehensive coaching service this year.
So whether you are still actively pursuing your resolutions or you need some thoughts as to what to do next, here are my top 3 suggestions..........
1) Set yourself a new goal of a New Year golf-specific exercise plan! Having worked with a number of fitness trainers/instructors, I'm more than happy and willing to help, and advise you on the ideal exercises for your golf game and for your golf swing. Not only will you reap the rewards through increased distance and stamina in the months to come, but in addition, a fit and healthy body of course makes for a fit and healthy mind.
2) Give your clubs an MoT. Pop into the Pro Shop at West Cornwall Golf Club and speak to Jason or myself and discuss whether or not your clubs need re-gripping or even replacing! It's recommended that grips should ideally be replaced every 40 rounds or once a year. The atmosphere, heat, cold, dirt and oils can constantly break down and deteriorate the materials within grips, and therefore this subsequently justifies the need to have fresh grips every year.
3) Invest in your game and future happiness, I strongly believe that "Good Golfers who are in the know, have lessons with their local PGA Pro". Whether we start by playing a few holes out on the golf course or we go straight out to the practice ground, I will provide you with a straightforward and uncomplicated way of consistently repeating an action in order to swing the club correctly. My knowledge and experience will accelerate you towards achieving your desired goal, and through practicing a defined programme and applying it to your game will inevitably lead to a fantastic 2015!
