Juniors Presentation Evening
Some 100 players and parents attended the annual junior presentation night at West Cornwall Golf Club with plenty of trophies and awards to be made. The awards included certificates for those that had moved from the starter group to the 3/5-hole group, and those that have moved from the 3/5-hole group to the 9-hole group, presented by Club Professional, Jason Broadway.
The trophies were for all of the junior events during the year and also trophies were presented to any of the juniors who had won any of the main Club competitions that have run over the year, of which there were plenty!
There were several noteworthy awards, in particular the Stephen Tonks Memorial Trophy, which is presented to the junior thought most deserving in terms of their attitude, commitment and the way they behave towards others both on and off the course and not just on golfing ability. On this occasion, the trophy winner was Harry Hall, and County President, David Inch was on hand to make the presentation.
The evening also sees the changeover of Junior Captain and James Scott, the outgoing Captain, introduced the new junior captain, Noah Badcock. Each year there are 2 Vice-captains and Bradley Barnes and Casey Olds have taken up those positions.
Following the presentation, food was served and a putting competition in the clubhouse was held. The section continues to go from strength to strength with excellent support from the volunteers involved with running the juniors.
