What Is Gap Testing?
A Gap Testing session enables you to understand how far you hit each club and what the average gap of the yardage between each club is.
Because the test is done using normalized data (with wind and atmospheric conditions negated), you can then set a benchmark, you can then adjust to the different weather and gradient conditions you face every time you go out to play a round of golf. Trackman will also give you a report with actual data for the test day, this will give you a feel of how wind may influence your carry distances.
I will be on hand to help guide you with the technology that allows you to gather all of this information by the Trackman, and at the end of the session you will be emailed your gap test results, you can then either print these out at home or keep stored on your computer, tablet or mobile device. Your results will also be on record with information that will help me be able to give you the best advice possible to improve your game.
Once we have gathered the data we can then see if the degrees of your clubs are too weak, strong or perfect. I have a loft and lie machine so it will be possible to check or change incorrect lofts (iron model dependant) if any abnormalities are found. (Its not uncommon for a player to hit 2 clubs the same distance because the lofts of those 2 clubs have become similar through bending through play).
If you own a GPS, laser-measuring device or you have recently purchased a new set of irons, wedges or new woods you need to do a gap test to understand your NEW average distances.
You might think you know how far you hit and carry your golf ball, but why think and guess, when you can know! With the most accurate measuring device on the market, the Trackman, (click here to find out more), you will have the means to advance your game.
What makes our range testing different to a driving range? Real golf balls! Hit off grass (range balls hit off mats react completely differently to real balls hit off grass). This makes your gap test even more accurate.

Gap Testing Session 1 Hour - £40.00
You will test your entire set of clubs from your Wedges to the Driver identifying your average yardage and the gap of yards in between each club.
I will then go through your test with you and point out any changes to your lofts or lies that may need to take place. I may be able to adjust some of these onsite during your session, (however if the whole set needs changing there will be an added charge to change them). You will be sent your data by email after your session.

Presentation Evening
The first monthly presentation evening took place on Wednesday under new Club Captain, Ian Hanley.
The main presentation included the Royal Navy Challenge Cup won by Charlie Evans, The Rabbits Salver, won by David Phillips and the Knowles Memorial Trophy, won by new members James & Ben Andrew.
The evening also included the return of the 'Snowball', a raffle where the winner gets the chance to also win the prize pot which builds up over the weeks by matching 2 balls. Tom Ruhrmund won the raffle on his birthday but unfortunately for him failed to win the pot having 10 choices of balls. This will now reduce for the next draw to 9 balls and of course the prize pot has now increased to £90.
With excellent food available on the evening, everything ran smoothly and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. The next presentation evening is due for Wednesday, 29 May.
Restaurant Discount Night
Just to remind members there is a special 15% discount night in the restaurant on Saturday, 2 May Giving members an extra 5% when using their members cards.

West Cornwall Golf Club Open Day - Sunday, 24 May 2015

There was a wonderful breezy sunny spring day for the Ladies of West Cornwall to play a 3 Ball Better Ball on Tuesday, 21 April.
Coming home with an excellent score of 82 was the team of Viv Rowe, Gill Embley, and Helen Dugdale. In second place were Alison Gessey, Donna Gibson, and Mandy Stevens with 80 points. They were followed, in 3rd place with 76 points, by Chris Marenah, Leonie Skewes and our Lady Captain, Edwina Thomas.
